Baked Margarita Spaghetti Squash

Baked Margarita Spaghetti Squash

Baked Margarita Spaghetti Squash

I cannot wait to try this recipe because apparently not only is it healthy, but its gluten free as well! I found this delish recipe on Facebook and only looked at it because the photo was really to yummy to pass up. I haven’t been eating as many veggies as I should and one too many carbs which is bad news bears in my book so I have to really start vegg-in it up! Also, since it is the winter I love using my oven to cook anything so help heat the house.

Ingredients:
1 large organic spaghetti squash
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 large organic Roma tomato, finely chopped
2 tbsp. finely chopped fresh organic basil
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or non-dairy substitute)
1 tsp. each salt & pepper
1 tsp. organic garlic powder (I personally prefer to use fresh garlic but this is what it calls for)

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
2. Slice the spaghetti squash in half lengthwise down the middle.
3. Use a spoon to remove the seeds and center strings.
4. Drizzle the two halves with olive oil and then sprinkle with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
5. Place the squash, open side down on a cookie sheet and bake for 30 minutes.
6. Remove from the oven, check to see if the squash is soft and easily comes up with a fork into a spaghetti like texture. If it’s too hard to remove, cook for another 10 minutes.
7. Remove from the oven, scrape and fluff the stringy squash with a fork. Leave the squash in the skin.
8. Turn the oven up to broil.
9.. Add the tomatoes and fresh basil into the squash, stir and top with the mozzarella cheese.
10. Place in the broiler for 3-4 minutes, until the cheese is melted and slightly browned.
11. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving the squash.

Chia Whip Fragrance Free Foam Cleanser

Chia Whip Fragrance Free Foam Cleanser

Chia Whip Fragrance Free Foam Cleanser

One Love Organics Chia Whip Fragrance Free Foam Cleanser  is seriously delightful. I have mentioned before how sensitive my skin is and how washing it either leaves me with super dry skin or breakouts. There is usually no in between. I moved to organic or natural cleansers years ago but even then my finds were generally hit or miss. I tried to stick with which ever brand didn’t make me break out and dealt with the dryness. What drew me to One Love Organics was their statement “We trust in the healing power of plants.http://www.gopjn.com/i/RUBMSkpHR0BJR0pETEBMSkpMRw“. I listed the ingredients below to show that One Love isn’t lying. One Love Organicshttp://www.pntrs.com/i/RUBMSkpHQ0BJR0pETEBMSkpMRw has a page listing all of their ingredients used to prove their plant based point, which I think is very honest and informative to use when making other purchases from other companies as well. One Love Organics is 100% pure, organic, and uses preservative-free formulas!http://www.pntrac.com/i/RUBMSkpHREBJR0pETEBMSkpMRw This is important to me and my skin as I am sure it is to you. The ingredients in most cosmetics would really make you cry if you knew what those huge 25 letter words actually meant.
If you have never tried One Love Organicshttp://www.pntrs.com/i/RUBMSkpHQ0BJR0pETEBMSkpMRw I suggest you do especially if you have sensitive skin or allergies like I do! If you have  tried One Love tell me about it.

Directions: A luxuriously lathering, organic foam cleanser, Chia Whip thoroughly removes dirt, excess oil, and makeup, while pampering the skin with organic supercritical chia oil, organic aloe vera and rosemary extract. Perfect for sensitive skin (and noses), this pure, fragrance-free cleansing foam washes away impurities in a sea of bubbles without stripping or dehydrating your skin.

Ingredients: *Every single ingredient listed is plant based. Visit our ingredients page to learn more.
Saponified organic olive, coconut and jojoba oils, vegetable glycerin, capryl glucoside, organic chia supercritical oil, organic aloe vera and rosemary extract

One Love Organics encourage healthy skin and a happy outlook in pretty ladies, fussy babies, tough dudes, and everyone in between.http://www.pjatr.com/i/RUBMSkpHRUBJR0pETEBMSkpMRw

Maple Syrup Taffy Fun Frozen Activity

Maple Syrup Taffy

Maple Syrup Taffy

I am sure we are all tired of talking about or hearing about how cold it is and how frozen we all feel. I say make the best of it! I found this super fun and delish science experiment that is simple for everyone…as long as your stove is currently working.
All you have to do is slowly heat up maple syrup and stir it slowly until it is warm almost boiling but you don’t want to burn it. Once the syrup is ready go outside and find fresh clean snow and pour the syrup in any shape you want. I saw some photos where people put popsicle sticks in the snow as well so they could easily remove it and have pops!
You can make any shape you want and share it with your friends! You could even heat up some chocolate or caramel and do the same to make pops even combine all 3!

Happy Holiday Snow Globes

Happy Holiday Snow Globes

Happy Holiday Snow Globes

I really like giving handmade gifts, they are much more special than anything you can buy. This season is perfect for handmade gifting as most people usually have a long list to get for! You can usually give handmade gifts to teachers, co-workers, friends, neighbors, friends and family members!. I have been seeing DIY snow globes and ornaments all over the place lately even in jewelry. I thought this was the perfect gift idea because you can totally personalize the gift. You can put a little something extra in there that is perfect for the receiver. I changed a few things around but found this super cute project here if you want the original project.

Supplies:
Empty baby food jars
Mini fake trees (or any other decorations you might be able to use)
Goo Gone or Rubbing Alcohol
Glycerin
Glass and Bead glue or Epoxy
Glitter
Distilled water

Directions:
1. Remove the labels off the jars and clean off the glue with Goo Gone. You can also rubbing alcohol as well.
2. Spray paint the lids gold {or desired color}.
3. Put a little glue on both the inside of the lid and the bottom of the fake tree. Allow to dry for 1-2 minutes and then press the tree onto the lid.
4. Allow to dry for 24 hours.
4. Add about 1 teaspoon of glitter into each jar.
5. Fill with distilled water and add 5 drops of Glycerin. {5 drops seemed to work the best.} Screw the lid {with the tree} onto the top and you’ve got yourself the cutest mini snow globe ever!

New Twist On Tuna & Pasta

Tuna & Pasta With Cannellini

I love tuna and pasta. It was one of my favorites growing up. There wasn’t a thing my mother couldn’t do with it. I eat it pretty regularly and it happens to even be one of my favorites to eat a sushi as well. I don’t want my tuna recipes to get stale or boring so I am always looking for ways to change things up. I will admit this recipe came at a time I didn’t have much in the kitchen and was too lazy to go to the store. That being said it was one of the most delish made up concoctions I have ever made!!

Ingredients:
2 cans Tuna
1/3 organic chopped yellow onion
1/2 can organic cream of mushroom soup
1/4-1/2 can organic cannellini beans (depending on preference)
1/2 table spoon of Brummel and brown
1/2 cup organic broccoli (or any green veggie you prefer i.e. peas spinach)
1lb organic pasta (any kind you prefer)
organic lemon juice
organic red pepper flakes
minced organic garlic
black pepper
organic fresh parsley

Directions:

1. Boil water for pasta.
2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
3. Grease glass baking dish (or any baking dish you prefer)
4. Mix the tuna, cream of mushroom, beans, veggies, garlic, red pepper, lemon juice, parsley, onion and any other spices you prefer together first in the baking dish and let sit (feel free to add cheese too because it is just plain delish.)
5. When pasta is finished cooking, drain and add that to the ingredients in the baking dish.
6. Cover the top of the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for approximately 30mins.
7. After 30mins remove the aluminum cover and bake for another 10 mins or until the top is light brown.
8. Let cool and serve!

Veritas Vegan Organics

Veritas Vegan Organics

Veritas Vegan Organics

I know I have written about body butters before and how to DIY them and such which is one of my fave things to do but I also love to find small companies who take the time and consideration to start a business where they care just as much about what you put on or in your body as you do yourself. Veritas Vegan Organics is one such company.
I found Veritas Vegan Organics on Facebook of all places. I know I shouldn’t be surprised by this but I stumbled upon Veritas in a networking forum on Facebook where you generally find an overwhelming amount of direct sales and spammers. Veritas products stood out clearly. I mean my ears perk anytime I see the words vegan, organic, or body butter. I decided I had to know about this company mostly because of my obsession with body butters but also because if this was a legitimate organic vegan company with great products that I needed to share.
After receiving my samples of body butters and soap I couldn’t resist using them right away. I had 2 body butters to try lavender and coconut! Two of my favorite scents. I won’t deny that the butters are a bit oily, to me, which normally aggravates me but I soon found out that the butter absorbs into your skin quickly and didn’t ruin or stain my clothes. My favorite thing to do is put the butter all over my feet then put socks on and go to sleep. When I wake up my feet feel amazing! What I also notice is that over time my skin felt and stayed softer. What I thought was “oily-ness” really just absorbed into the skin to help maintain its moisture which is something that I have an issue with because I do tend to wash my hands/shower a little often. This can strip your skin of its natural moisture very quickly.
If you like to get to know your companies the way I do then you must read the About Us  page! Try them out and let me know how you like their products and their company! So far I must say I am in love!

Wading River Local Market

Wading River Local Market

Wading River Local Market

I have recently been working with an amazing group of local small business owners at The Wading River Local Market located in the loft space of Thrifts and Gifts 302 North Country Road Wading River NY 11792. The market is open Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm and some Fridays as well.
Each week this market brings together different local businesses to try to revamp the stagnating business district in Wading River. The market is a great way to help support your local farms through purchasing fresh produce/dairy/breads and even plants and flowers. You can get hand made jewelry, scarves, hats, soy candles, pet treats and so much more!
Every weekend the market tries to bring in new and different vendors to help spread the word about great small businesses right in your area. We are always looking for new vendors so if you or someone you know is looking to participate send us an email at Wadingriverlocalmarket@hotmail.com.
This weekend December 14th we are hosting a wine and cheese socail and announcing raffle winners!! Tickets are $1 or if you bring in a non-perishable food item you get a ticket for free!! We have set up adorbs gift baskets for you to win for the holidays and all of the proceeds go to the local food bank.
Visit us on Facebook or on Twitter to learn about the latest updates on events, specials and local news!
