18th Annual Stroll to Sea Dog Walk

Animal Rescue Fund

Animal Rescue Fund

One of my favorite people who just hosted a donation event at her home about two weeks ago is now participating in the 18th Annual Stroll to the Sea Dog Walk for Arf Hamptons. If you click here you can donate to this amazing cause. I have probably over mentioned my dedication to rescuing animals and how much every little bit you give helps in heaps and bounds. It is important we help support these causes before more animals are put down. No one likes to see the pictures rescue’s post about animals being put down. It breaks my heart every time I even think about it. Your participation in donating could save that many more animals from being needlessly murdered. Please do you part and help support an amazing cause!

Donation Parties

Little Shelter Rescue

I went to a friends house last weekend who was having a sort of party extravaganza and all that she required was that each attendee bring something for a local shelter called Little Shelter that she rescued her dogs from. She invited her other friends who did Avon, Scentsy, 31 gifts, passion parties, and someone who made amazing cake truffles. She made a ton of food and had drinks galore lol (the best way to get tons of donates is to get and keep everyone tipsy). The event was a hit and there was plenty to donate. It made me think how can I get this to spread to other areas and get people do to this regularly.
Rescues need all of the help they can get and no one wants to see happy healthy animals put down. It is a horrible process that even has me tearing up just writing about it. After seeing the success of this party I think everyone should do it for any event you have. Go to a dollar store if you have to to purchase supplies. You can ask for rescue donations at birthday parties, weddings (I have seen it on Tori & Deans wedding show), holiday parties, or even do what my friend did and invite other hostesses who sell their own merchandise to bring in a larger crowd.
Animal rescuing is something so near and dear to my heart. My first rescue Skye was in such a horrible state when I adopted her and 10 years and 3 additional rescues later she is healthy happy and in the most loving home ever. She is the sweetest dog even after what she had to suffer for the first year 1/2 of her life. Every dog deserves that chance.
If you throw a donation party post pictures on our Facebook page and comment under this post which shelter the donations went to after you have donated and I will send you something awesomely green!

When: Wednesday August 24 at 3:00pm – September 5 at 9:00am

Location: On line

More Info: Hi Fellow Friends & Animal Lovers:

This is something that is VERY NEAR AND DEAR to my heart!!

I’m working w/ Gold Canyon Candles to raise money for Lost Our Home Pet Foundation who is a resource for real estate professionals and other members of the community who discover an abandoned pet, and to provide options for pet owners faced with difficult economic circumstances while promoting the spaying and neutering of pets. These animals are left with no food, water and no way to remove themselves from a backyard.

The wonderful thing about this organization is they help people keep their beloved pets by distributing food to families who cannot afford it, temporary house them until a family can get back on their feet and help animals that are left behind and find them a forever home. Lost Our Home Pet Foundation will get 40 % of total profit. The great thing about candles is they smell wonderful, make great gifts and at the same time you can help an animal that is victim to foreclosure. Below are the list of scents and prices.

Have You Heard About Slut Walks?

Slut Walk NYC

Slut Walk NYC

I was invited to this event by a friend of mine a few months back and I had to admit I have never heard of it. At first I thought she was calling me a cruel name but then she explained. I do like the idea but as I have done some research and heard some interviews not all feminists are pro-Slut Walk. I would like to know your opinion on the Slut Walks. Have you ever heard of or participated in one? If so, please fill me in I would love some more insight. If you haven’t would you participate in this event?
Below is the information for SlutWalk NYC. Let me know what you think and if you would go or are planning to go!

Time: Saturday, October 1 · 12:00pm – 3:00pm

…No matter who you are
No matter where you work
No matter how you identify
No matter how you flirt
No matter what you wear
No matter who you choose to love
No matter what you said before:

NO ONE has the right to touch you without your consent. SlutWalk NYC is part of a worldwide grassroots movement challenging rape culture, victim-blaming and slut-shaming*, and working to end sexual and domestic violence.
*SlutWalk NYC’s working definition of slut-shaming: the derogatory, sexist language and policies that are used to shame self-identified women who are perceived as sexual.
SlutWalk first began in Toronto, where on January 24th, 2011, a representative of the Toronto Police gave shocking insight into the Force’s view of sexual assault by stating: “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized”.
As the city’s major protective service, the Toronto Police perpetuated the myth and stereotype of ‘the slut’, and in doing so have failed us. With sexual assault already a significantly under-reported crime, survivors have now been given even less of a reason to go to the Police, for fear that they could be blamed. Being assaulted isn’t about what you wear (check the stats, research, studies, etc); it’s not even about sex; but using a pejorative term to rationalize inexcusable behaviour creates an environment in which it’s okay to blame the victim.
Society teaches “Don’t get raped” rather than “Don’t rape”. It is time to stop blaming the victim!
SlutWalk is about expressing our unity, fighting to shed the stereotypes and myths of sexual assault and supporting a better understanding of why sexual assault happens, putting the blame where it belongs: on those who perpetrate it. We believe in working toward better partnerships and conversations in our communities to help make this happen.
The term ‘slut’ has carried a predominantly negative connotation. Aimed at those who are sexually promiscuous, be it for work or pleasure, it has primarily been women who have suffered under the burden of this label. And whether dished out as a serious indictment of one’s character or merely as a flippant insult, the intent behind the word is always to wound, so we’re taking it back. “Slut” can be re-appropriated.
We are tired of being oppressed by slut-shaming; of being judged by our sexuality and feeling unsafe as a result. Being in charge of our sexual lives, however we choose to express them, should not mean that we are opening ourselves to an expectation of violence, regardless if we participate in sex for pleasure or work. No one should equate enjoying sex with attracting sexual assault.
WE ARE COMING TOGETHER. As people from all gender expressions and orientations, all walks of life, levels of employment and education, all races, ages, abilities, and backgrounds, from all points of this city and elsewhere.
We are asking you to join us for SlutWalk, to make a unified statement about sexual assault and victims’ rights and to demand respect for all. Whether a fellow slut or simply an ally, you don’t have to wear your sexual proclivities on your sleeve, we just ask that you attend. Any gender-identification, any age. Singles, couples, parents, sisters, brothers, children, friends. Come walk or roll or strut or holler or stomp with us.
Join us in our mission to spread the word that those who experience sexual assault are not the ones at fault, without exception.
We are in the process of organizing the event. Details will follow shortly.

The Green Bride Registry

I posted an article previously about a book called Green Bride Guide and in the early Beagle Days I posted about an online/physical store 3R’s green registry. Since then I have seen many green stores pop up and much more green commerce (maybe because I have been looking more for them) but either way I have found Green Bride Guide website. I loved this book so it makes sense I would love the site!

Get $10 off your order of $50 or more in the Green Bride Guide Gift Shop!

Green Bride Guide has compiled a ton of green items and for you to have for your home. The registry is broken down into categories, color, certification & eco-strategy. The pricing isn’t cheap but by no means is it expensive for eco-products. Not to mention it’s your wedding so you aren’t paying for it so go crazy!
I have yet to meet a bride & groom who have asked for eco-friendly products for their wedding. If green items happen to be at Bed Bath & Beyond or Macy’s they would consider it but to go directly to a green business with a green registry seems out of many couples comfort zones. I, personally, would definitely register green. I honestly couldn’t afford it buy everything I would want for a green home all at once. I purchase piece by piece. A wedding registrty is a perfect way to start your new green lives together. You can build from there. You will also be forcing people who might not have otherwise been interested in green items to learn about something new. You could be creating a new greenie with your green registry. Keep that in mind.

A Billion Acts of Green

A Billion Acts of Green

A Billion Acts of Green

As I was looking for interesting information for Earth Day 2011 I “stumbled upon” A Billion Acts of Green. I am supremely excited about this not to mention I absolutely love their logo. The world community is trying to register a billion acts of green before the Earth Summit in Rio in 2012. The Billion Acts of Green’s website makes it easy for you to register your green event or find local events to participate in, you can even donate directly to the cause. ABAG is the largest environmental service campaign in the world! So far they are up to 45 million acts but I think we can help make it more! All you have to do is register your event to help add to the reduction of carbon emissions and be apart of the billion! This is also a perfectly reasonable excuse to host tons of green events to get this number bumping! Tell your friends and family about it so they can be apart of the cause.
