Organic Chocolate Facial

Ingredients:

1/4 cup organic cocoa powder
1/4 cup organic raw honey
1 teaspoon organic brown sugar
3 tablespoons organic whole oats
2 tablespoons organic soy milk

Directions:

Grind whole oats to make the oatmeal powder than mix the cocoa powder, brown sugar and honey together. After all is mixed add the soy milk until all is mixed and wet.

Herbal Knowledge:

Cocoa powder is an antioxidant and helps improve blood flow, tighten skin and helps moisture retention. Honey has antibiotic properties as well as acts as a calming sleep aid. Oatmeal aids in anti-itch remedies and skin irritation. Brown Sugar is a natural exfoliate that leaves your skin glowing. Soy is considered an anti-inflammatory however some may be allergic to soy so regular milk or even non-lactose milk are can be used to soothe the skin and remove redness.

Citrus Herbal Bath Mix

Use only dried materials.

1 oz. Organic Orange peel

1 oz. Whole Organic Orange flowers

1 oz. Organic Lemon Peel

1 oz. Organic Comfrey leaves

1 oz.Whole Organic Chamomile

1 oz. Organic Almond meal

This mixture will make approximately 8 to 10 baths. Store in a dry space. You can always add or take away any of the ingredients if you are not fond of them. There are any number of herbs you can replace these ingredients with.

Directions: When you are ready for a bath you can put a large handful of the mixture in muslin or mesh bag and drop the bag in the hot tub or you can leave it hanging on the faucet just enough to dangle into the tub. Some prefer to drop the herbs directly into the water. If you have a metal tea strainer or something of that kind, that will do as well. Another option is to make an infusion of herbs and then pour the liquid into the tub. All of these options work for your herbal bath.

Herbal Knowledge: Orange peel soothes the skin and is a natural antioxidant, Orange flowers help circulate oxygen to the brain, Lemon peel is an astringent, Comfrey leaves are used to relieve pain and reduce swelling, Chamomile relaxes and soothes the body, an Almonds are high in Vitamin E which is good for the skin.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup organic plain yogurt, chilled
1/4 cup organic walnuts; ground or pulverized
1 tbs Organic Fair Trade Raw Honey

Instructions:
Stir ingredients together. Apply to freshly cleaned face and gently massage to exfoliate. Let the mask sit on your face between 5-10 minutes, then wash off with warm water and pat dry.

On my never ending mission to be in shape I find and read many health articles and blogs. I think it is interesting the differing sciences that can figure out how each body works and preform at its best. There are so many schools of thought and everyone seems to think they have the best plan. It’s difficult for me to know who is the “right one”. I prefer articles that gear it’s help with the use of science. After reading a few articles on what foods help keep your weight loss efforts in line I tried to get them all into one list using all of the information I read but “trimmed the fat” a bit.

1. Replace carbohydrates from sugar and refined grains with “good carbs” from fruits and vegetables. Orang-hued foods were found to be the most effective substitutes. Being that fruits and vegetables are high in fiber, they keep you full longer, high levels of antioxidants like vitamin C and beta-carotene fend off the fat. You can get a good amount of beta-carotene from carrots, cantaloupe, squash and peaches.

2.About 25 percent of your daily calories should come from protein, but you should choose lean sources like poultry, fish, low-fat yogurt, and fat-free milk to keep your calories down. Protein helps to you boost your energy, aiding in calorie burning.

I used to have these sneakers in high school! They were my favorite! The soles of the shoes were speckled with different colors and they were canvas. If I wasn’t wearing my Converse these were it!
