The Robomow

Robomow

Robomow

I know the Robomow is expensive but the lazy beagle in myself really wants this. I am not the biggest fan of mowing the lawn. It takes forever and makes my allergies go crazy. Here is a description of the Robomow and why you should love it besides the fact that it comes with Free Shipping:

Tired of pushing or riding that lawn mower of yours for seemingly endless amounts of time, every week? Robomow’s RL 2000 is the perfect solution to give you more time doing what you love, instead of mowing the lawn. This robotic lawn mower is recommended for large lawns between 12,900 and 17,200 square feet. It comes with a base station for automated storage, charging and easy mower scheduling. You can schedule this mower to run day or night without bothering your neighbors: these machines will run at a noise level as low as 65 decibels when in eco-mode. To give a comparison, this is the same amount of noise generated by a normal conversation.

What makes the Robomow Green?
Robomow is as green as the grass it mows.
From saving energy to the way it cuts the grass, Robomow is making as less impact on the environment as possible.
With new ingenious technology and innovative grasscycling techniques, the fully automatic lawnmowers are much easier to use, waste less energy, emit less air pollution and create less impact on the world around us.While mowing your lawn, Robomow cuts the grass into very fine cuttings and disperses them over the ground. These clippings decompose quickly and release beneficial organic nutrients and water into the soil. This results in a healthier and better-looking lawn and eliminates the need to collect and remove the clippings.

Repurposing & Home Decor

I have been doing a lot of crafting around my house lately trying to see what I have to repurpose. Pinterest has been helping me with ideas as well but I wanted to see what some books have for repurposing ideas. I was almost on hoarder status saving things I knew I could get use out of but I wasn’t sure when I would find a use or for what and now I have found it.Repurposing & Home Decor has some really great ideas for me. Repurposing & Home Decor is an excellent how to for DIY repurposing projects as well as gives you advice on what not to do along with helpful tips. I am really excited to start playing around with some things I have laying around. I have a large backyard that I have been dying to fully utilize and this book is just the ticket to getting my yard where I want it to be.
What are your repurposing experiences? How tos? Do’s and don’ts?

EcoNuts Soap is Eco-Interesting

Eco Nuts

Eco Nuts

Since I have a zoo living in my house (bf included) laundry builds up fast and although we try to stick to doing our laundry once a week to save water sometimes that just isn’t possible. I am a huge proponent of using biodegradable, organic and chemical free detergents and softeners. I don’t like detergents that smell too much. They never smell natural and I feel like if a detergent needs that much fragrance it is doing so because the laundry probably isn’t as clean as it should be. I’d rather have a fresh clean smell then some made up smell that doesn’t even exist in nature. What really gets my goat is some of these eco-detergents cost an arm and a leg. I never really understand that if the product is supposed to be natural have no harmful chemicals and whatever other attributes the product boasts why should it costs more than the harmful crap detergents. I always hear the excuse well to process it right or package it appropriately it is more costly. I really think that is a load of rubbish personally. Either way on my hunt for eco-awesome laundry solutions I stumbled upon EcoNuts. If you don’t know what a soap nut is click here, I didn’t know either but I will say they are quite an interesting little nut!
EcoNuts have hit my personal trifecta of green awesomeness 1. They package responsibly and don’t try to trick the consumer. 2. EcoNuts are found in nature and are a reasonable alternative to using harmful products without having to be manipulated to become a suitable green product. 3. The price is right! EcoNuts do not over charge their merchandise and because their packaging is so responsible they can’t even use it as an excuse for the high prices.  If you haven’t tried them yet you should!! If you have let me know how you liked Pure Citizen” target=”_blank”>EcoNuts!!

The Urbano

Urbano

Urbano

I found this today on Pinterest believe it or not and I am loving it. The Urbano is a trash can that stores extra plastic garbage bags in the can for you. I am not a fan of using plastic grocery bags but for recycling they can hold your recyclables and then be rinsed out and reused. I really just like the style of the can and that it holds your bag open. The design is simple and sleek but I like it. If you like it too you can pick your very own up at Uncommon Goods! Let me know if you like them too!

The Only Acceptable Use I Have For A Rake

DIY JEWELRY ORGANIZER

DIY JEWELRY ORGANIZER

I am not generally a fan of yard work. I don’t mind keeping up the garden or starting it but the hard raking and digging isn’t always my cup of tea. I especially despise rakes! We are not friends and more often than not I hurt myself or someone else when using one. I found this amazing idea for old rakes at WebEcoist.com!
I have a ton of jewelry I’ve acquired/made over the years and although I have a huge jewelry chest that is quite well organized you can always use more organization, I feel. The image above displays perfectly and simply how an old rake can be quickly transitioned into a jewelry organizer, however I would go one step further and instead of using just a string for your earrings (some earrings may not stay on well) I would say find old mesh or tulle you have around the house. Cut it to fit the area of the rake and either clue or tie it to the rake. This way you can fit more earrings and keep them attached more securely. I cannot wait to get home and take apart all of the rakes we have at home for this exact purpose….maybe it will get me out of yard work this year!!

Yonanas

Yonanas

I received Yonanasas a Christmas gift this year and was soo super excited. I had seen the commercial a few times on television but didn’t think much other than “That looks cool” but I wasn’t going to go out of my way to buy it. When my Uncle gave it to me I was kind of excited although I am not sure how “green” it is.  I am sure it is made by some child labor ridden horrible company but the concept is what I appreciate. Last night I finally decided to try it. I keep frozen fruits in my freezer at all times for smoothies and was in the need of some sort of sweet food but I wanted to stick to my diet.
Yonanaswas easy to use and I made my dessert in like 5 mins. Even taking apart and cleaning it was easy.
I used 3 bananas, 1 handful of blueberries and 12 strawberries which made alot of “fro-yo” so after I was finished I put what was left in a tupperware and put it in the freezer for tonight!
Yonanasis going to be perfect in the summer. You can add chocolate, caramel or even marshmallow if you want to make a less than healthy snack. You can even add nuts but I wouldn’t put them in the machine just in case. Either way I am in love and this is definitely one item that isn’t a farce on As Seen On TV.

Interesting Uses For Dryer Sheets

Interesting Uses for Dryer Sheets

Interesting Uses for Dryer Sheets

If you still use dryer sheets at home here are some interesting uses I read about that will give you more bang for you dryer sheet buck!
Now I will also preface this list by saying that if you do still use them read this list very carefully and think about if the dryer sheet can do the things below maybe you should rethink if they are really necessary to your laundry regime…just sayin.

1. Dish Scrubber – If you have a pesky burnt or baked on something stuck to your dishes and you have no Brillo or anything to scrub it off with, put the dryer sheet on the dirty dish with some soap and warm water over night and apparently the gook will be gone. What is in those suckers?

2. Gnat Repeller – Apparently Kansas State had the funds and interest to find out what repels insects besides repellent and dryer sheets were a winner. Apparently the chemicals used in dryer sheets prevent gnat larvae from surviving. Are you sure you want to continue using those things.

3. Pet Hair Remover – Forget the convenient rollers! Dryer sheets do the work for you. Not only do they do it in the dryer but if you simply rub them on to your dry clothes while you are wearing them they fulfil the same purpose. Good to know!

4.Hard Water Stain Remover – Hullo! Do you have a water stain a sponge and cleaner can’t remove! Then just whip out your handy dandy dryer sheet and it will buff that right out for you! Good to know…or is it?

5. Instant Sachets – I will admit that a few times in the past when we were still using dryer sheets and a sheet got stuck in a pocket or something it def does freshen up your drawer but apparently it works even better when you put an unused one in there too! You can stop using those silly potpourri stuffed bags and just use them from the laundry basket!

Organic Club Sofa in Hemp Fabric

Organic Club Sofa in Hemp Fabric

Organic Club Sofa in Hemp Fabric

Hello organic couch from Bean Products, Inc.!! I want it for many a reason but honestly the price is such a deterrent. I get it is organic hemp and a sofa bed, you have 17 fabric colors to choose from and you can even choose the colors for the feet and it’s hand crafted! The wood used is sustainably harvested and the cushion’s can even biodegrade. There are soo many amazing green qualities to this piece of furniture. You can tell that Bean Products, Inc. really goes out of its way to offer you a high quality and highly responsible piece of furniture however that being said I feel like even some of the most dedicated greenies who would love to purchase this comfy little tid bit couldn’t because of the price when you can find furniture for much less than that at many other chain stores. I don’t advocate shopping at the big chains when there are greener alternatives but especially in tough economic times we really have to find a way to make green products more affordable to everyone. I would buy this couch in an instant (as I am definitely in need of a new one) but I can’t invest $5200 in a couch when many places offer 7 piece furniture sets for around that price. I’m n0t sure if you are like me and want to support green businesses as much as possible but with things like this I can’t no matter how much I want it and how much I’d rather put my money towards this than come plastic couch from China I can’t invest that much money in anything that frivolous right now. I don’t know too many people who could and the people I do know who could wouldn’t shop at Bean Products, Inc. anyway but that is an entirely different story.
