I’m not generally a fan of recycled bike chain merchandise like jewelry, bags, chains, but this frame caught my eye. I like the shape and pattern of the chains in this frame. It’s simple but interesting. You can even decorate it up if you like with odds and ends you have around the house. The idea for these frames came about when someones bike chain broke on their way to work. There are plenty of uses one could have for a bike chains which is good but this picture frame sort of makes sure it won’t end up in a landfill somewhere. People generally keep picture frames for long periods of tome or at the least give them away. It’s not easy to break a bike chain and as long as it is constructed sturdily the frame could last forever! Another special perk to the bike chain picture frame is that it is made in the USA. That’s just one more reason why you should be buying these for yourself, friends, family, even strangers! You can find this frame and other super cute items at Hipcycle!

I just wrote about Night Owl Paper Goods earlier this month but I heart Night Owls designs and products so much that I had to write again about something that is very important to me. Night Owls products are MADE IN THE USA. I know many people don’t care or think it is important but if Night Owl can not only be an eco-friendly business but also operating here in the United States what are other companies excuses? It is our obligation as citizens to support businesses that do work here in the US to keep our economy thriving. If we support business who use eco-friendly practices here in America we can force other larger businesses to do the same.
Night Owl products are beyond reasonably priced and you can even customize your own merchandise. You can make stationary, wedding invites, cards and get scrapbooking materials.
If you aren’t interested in making your own designs they have plenty of their own designs that are soo cute you want to pinch their cheeks. You can even purchase your own hand made owl!
Here is a list of Night Owl Paper Goods Charitable Contributions straight from their own website:

Charitable Contributions
It’s very important to us to conduct our business in a manner that encourages and inspires respect for the environment and the community.
Our Products:
Our goal is to create our products using environmentally-sound methods and to conduct our operations in an environmentally-responsible manner.
Our Contributions:
Below are some of the organizations that we support and encourage you to support as well!
•American Red Cross

Oh how I swoon over the Spring Bamboo Clock! The Bamboo Clock is spectacularly beautious! I would like to say that is is a little pricey but to be honest it is hand made in the USA, made from bamboo and is under $100. Comparing that to many other eco-living sites that really isn’t bad. The Spring Bamboo Clock literally made me jump for joy when I came across it. I am positive I must have the Bamboo Spring Clock like yesterday! I am pretty sure you know someone who needs it too! It is back to school season after all, maybe a new college student or teacher needs a little gift before the school year gets into full swing? Keeping summery things around helps ease the pain of the realization that summer is coming to a close shortly. That makes everyone a little sad.

About the Spring Bamboo Clock:

This clock emanates the feeling of Spring time and was inspired by Japanese paper cutting art. All images have to be connected in order to allow the laser cutting technique used to cut out the image as a single piece.
Hand made in the USA
The white part is ivory acrylic and it is backed by eco-friendly bamboo to bring out its elegant and intricate design. Clock hands are in chocolate brown. Clock requires one AA battery to operate.
Materials: Bamboo, Acrylic, Clock parts
Made per order, please allow 1-2 weeks to leave the studio.

Product Info:
Heavy reclaimed cotton yarn provides more stretch to easily slide on and off over doggie heads and legs. These simple, stylish dog sweaters are made in the USA from reclaimed cotton fibers.
Each sweater saves water and does not require fertilizers, insecticides, dyes…or even farmland!
Our cotton yarn is derived from pre-consumer textile table remnants, that are cleaned and separated into raw fibers. The cotton fibers are then blended with 24% new acrylic fibres and spun into yarn for our sweaters.
What’s more is that the fibers are not re-colored, as the careful mixing of textile cuttings creates the eye-catching palette we use in Reknitz®. Ensure your little pooch is warm for years to come .
Available in 7 sizes, simply measure your dog from their collar to their tail and then check the Size Guide tab below to determine the right size for your dog. Easy cleaning, machine washable cold/cold and dry on delicate.
Made with pride in the USA.

Hello super cute straws!! What a great idea these are not only to make you look super fancy but to keep gross plastic straws out of landfills. I can only imagine how many straws are used and thrown away each day let alone each year! GlassDharma has USA made glass straws to help keep our garbage straw free!

Product Info:Colored dots add both fun and functionality. Use these to color code your drinks (or just plain decorate your place setting). A good way to identify who has what straw in your family.
Decorative Dots – note that straw is clear, only dots are colored. The dots keep the straws from rolling. Glass straws don’t leach toxins into your food as you drink. Each time you use your glass straw equals one less plastic straw ending up in your landfill. One glass straw replaces thousands of plastic straws.

Made of borosilicate tubing and is the strongest glass commercially available. This means that GlassDharma spared no expense in bringing you the strongest, most durable drinking straw possible. GlassDharma straws are made of glass, and as a result there is no leaching of ANY TOXINS into your drink. You can use your non-toxic straws with confidence.
Great for hot or cold drinks, microwave and dishwasher safe!!

Growing up as an only child I pretending was a huge part of my playing. I loved pretending I was staring in my own movie or play. I would make my own costumes or dress my dolls in their own costumes to help me with my theatrics. As much as I like technology I feel like children might be missing out on some really fun experiences that can expand their learning and playtime fun.
Oompa carries the Beka Club House Theater that is the perfect imagination station for any child. Beka Club House Theater has either chalkboard or white board to add to the artistic endeavors and imaginations. The Club House Theater has a place to put puppets and colorful curtains to make the club house seem more like an actual theater.
I don’t know about you but when I am trying to look for products made in the USA I have a difficult time finding many things. It really disappoints me that we can’t have done more with our country than learning how to export to other countries that cost less but maintain better quality. That sounds silly to me. There was once a time when everyone wanted American made products, what happened to that? I think it is very possible that we can return to a time where our products are respected and in international demand.

One way to get back there is to go visit businesses that manufacturer products right here in the United States. The book Watch It Made in the U.S.A.: A Visitor’s Guide to the Best Factory Tours and Company Museums
is an excellent resource to find and visit American manufacturers and watch exactly what they do. This may inspire you to continue purchasing American products or even entice you to make your own American made products. Watch It Made in the U.S.A.: A Visitor’s Guide to the Best Factory Tours and Company Museums gives you information for over 300 products made right here in the USA. Maybe this summer plan some trips with your family to discover what items you might be using everyday that are made right here at home.

Product Description:
Have you ever wondered how toothpaste gets into the tube? How stripes get on a candy cane? More than just a travel guide, Watch It Made in the U.S.A. helps you experience firsthand the products, companies, technology, and workers that fuel our economy, from Ben and Jerry’s to Harley-Davidson. Whether you’re curious about potato chips or computer chips, cars or crayons, you can count on authors and factory-tour experts Karen Axelrod and Bruce Brumberg to help you and your family discover information about more than 300 ordinary and extraordinary products most of us take for granted.

The products are made in recyclable/biodegradable packaging and significant portions of profits are donated to various children’s charities. Let it also be said that the items are made right here in the U.S.A.

I know you are tired of me saying it but I will say it again! It is our responsibilty to support businesses that make a point of being green as well as being American made. We can fix many a problem if we get back to manufacturing products ourselves and not importing everything. We need to be able to sustain ourselves and not have to depend so heavily on other countries to do the “dirty” work. Our laziness and selfishness has put us where we are today and businesses like Noodle & Boo can help us move passed that and get on to bigger and better things.

I always stress the importance of American Made products! Furniture is no exception. I know it may be difficult to find but possibly you aren’t looking in the right places. Oompa.com has Room Decor & Furniture all made in the USA! I will admit some of the items are pricey but combined with their green outlook on products I think it is worth it to spend a little extra to have environmentally safe products in your home.
We know bamboo is one of the most sustainable and environmentally sound building materials the Earth has so it is important to purchase big items such as furniture that is made from bamboo. If more people purchased furniture made from sustainable materials such as bamboo it would drive the prices down and possibly force larger companies to begin to use bamboo in their products as well.
Although sustainability is extremely important around the world even more locally I feel that purchasing American made products is just as much of our responsibility. Not enough products are made here in the USA and if we want to fix our economy we should support our workers and their products. This can only benefit all of us if we stick to our guns. You have heard about purchasing locally or being a locavore so why not when possible be a “locavore” for our country! The more we purchase products displaying MADE IN THE USA the more items can be made in the USA. It only makes sense!
