Please join the Georges Malaika Foundation for the unveiling of the GMF School, created by the esteemed architectural design firm, Studio MDA. Theoretical educational models, structured upon in-depth research conducted in Congo, created by students of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, will also be on exhibition.

Special guests will include Matthew Bishop, American Business Editor and New York Bureau Chief for The Economist and Khaliah Ali, humanitarian and daughter of legendary fighter Muhammad Ali.

Urban Harvest Farmers Market vendors are gearing up for the upcoming holiday with turkey, vegetables galore, cheeses, prepared food and much more.
The market will host cooking and design demonstrations for visitors to the market. Chef Ryan Pera of The Grove Restaurant will be making a pumpkin flan with walnut and sage pesto, a perfect side dish for the Thanksgiving meal. Chef Hugo Ortega of Backstreet Cafe and Hugo’s Restaurant will be making either a sweet potato gratin or a spinach and pine nut dressing. Demos start at 9am.
Jessica Zapatero and Lauren Elizabeth Ballas of Green Lily Events will be at the market showing Houstonians how to design a show stopping, environmentally responsible Thanksgiving table, all under $30. They will be using products from our market, as well as recyclable, eco-friendly products. Stop by for some simple, beautiful tips!

 A Better Place all breed dog rescue will have a booth at the 2009 Michigan Family Pet Expo. You will be able to meet some of our adoptable dogs, pick up some great FREE educational materials, and speak with volunteers to learn more about A Better Place all breed dog rescue and pet education.
