New Twist On Tuna & Pasta

Tuna & Pasta With Cannellini

I love tuna and pasta. It was one of my favorites growing up. There wasn’t a thing my mother couldn’t do with it. I eat it pretty regularly and it happens to even be one of my favorites to eat a sushi as well. I don’t want my tuna recipes to get stale or boring so I am always looking for ways to change things up. I will admit this recipe came at a time I didn’t have much in the kitchen and was too lazy to go to the store. That being said it was one of the most delish made up concoctions I have ever made!!

Ingredients:
2 cans Tuna
1/3 organic chopped yellow onion
1/2 can organic cream of mushroom soup
1/4-1/2 can organic cannellini beans (depending on preference)
1/2 table spoon of Brummel and brown
1/2 cup organic broccoli (or any green veggie you prefer i.e. peas spinach)
1lb organic pasta (any kind you prefer)
organic lemon juice
organic red pepper flakes
minced organic garlic
black pepper
organic fresh parsley

Directions:

1. Boil water for pasta.
2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
3. Grease glass baking dish (or any baking dish you prefer)
4. Mix the tuna, cream of mushroom, beans, veggies, garlic, red pepper, lemon juice, parsley, onion and any other spices you prefer together first in the baking dish and let sit (feel free to add cheese too because it is just plain delish.)
5. When pasta is finished cooking, drain and add that to the ingredients in the baking dish.
6. Cover the top of the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for approximately 30mins.
7. After 30mins remove the aluminum cover and bake for another 10 mins or until the top is light brown.
8. Let cool and serve!

Veritas Vegan Organics

Veritas Vegan Organics

Veritas Vegan Organics

I know I have written about body butters before and how to DIY them and such which is one of my fave things to do but I also love to find small companies who take the time and consideration to start a business where they care just as much about what you put on or in your body as you do yourself. Veritas Vegan Organics is one such company.
I found Veritas Vegan Organics on Facebook of all places. I know I shouldn’t be surprised by this but I stumbled upon Veritas in a networking forum on Facebook where you generally find an overwhelming amount of direct sales and spammers. Veritas products stood out clearly. I mean my ears perk anytime I see the words vegan, organic, or body butter. I decided I had to know about this company mostly because of my obsession with body butters but also because if this was a legitimate organic vegan company with great products that I needed to share.
After receiving my samples of body butters and soap I couldn’t resist using them right away. I had 2 body butters to try lavender and coconut! Two of my favorite scents. I won’t deny that the butters are a bit oily, to me, which normally aggravates me but I soon found out that the butter absorbs into your skin quickly and didn’t ruin or stain my clothes. My favorite thing to do is put the butter all over my feet then put socks on and go to sleep. When I wake up my feet feel amazing! What I also notice is that over time my skin felt and stayed softer. What I thought was “oily-ness” really just absorbed into the skin to help maintain its moisture which is something that I have an issue with because I do tend to wash my hands/shower a little often. This can strip your skin of its natural moisture very quickly.
If you like to get to know your companies the way I do then you must read the About Us  page! Try them out and let me know how you like their products and their company! So far I must say I am in love!

Wading River Local Market

I have recently been working with an amazing group of local small business owners at The Wading River Local Market located in the loft space of Thrifts and Gifts 302 North Country Road Wading River NY 11792. The market is open Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm and some Fridays as well.
Each week this market brings together different local businesses to try to revamp the stagnating business district in Wading River. The market is a great way to help support your local farms through purchasing fresh produce/dairy/breads and even plants and flowers. You can get hand made jewelry, scarves, hats, soy candles, pet treats and so much more!
Every weekend the market tries to bring in new and different vendors to help spread the word about great small businesses right in your area. We are always looking for new vendors so if you or someone you know is looking to participate send us an email at Wadingriverlocalmarket@hotmail.com.
This weekend December 14th we are hosting a wine and cheese socail and announcing raffle winners!! Tickets are $1 or if you bring in a non-perishable food item you get a ticket for free!! We have set up adorbs gift baskets for you to win for the holidays and all of the proceeds go to the local food bank.

Fresh Citrus Candle

Fresh Citrus Candle

I just found this on Facebook from one of my friends and I think it is an amazing idea!! This is so simple and a great way to reuse citrus rinds instead of just throwing them out, you can also use the rinds as extra exfoliant in body butters, washes and scrubs! This is a simple and quick way to freshen up your home with ingredients you already have at home! No more having to go out and spend money on sprays, candles or other expensive fresheners. I cannot wait to try this!

Supplies:

Citrus Fruit (orange/lemon/lime/grapefruit)
Organic Olive Oil
(olive, vegetable, olive, coconut, avo, whatever you have at home)
Essential Oil (if you want to mix scents and get fancy)

Directions:
1. Cut the fruit in half.
2. Cut out the fruit but leave the core center attached.
3. Pour oil in to the cored out fruit.
4. Add any other essential oils or even bits of the fruit in to the oil.
5. Light the stem and it will burn for hours.
