The Paper Potter

It may not be spring just yet but I saw The Paper Potter during my V-day gift shopping and thought what a great Valentine’s Day gift or even for wishful spring thinking. The potter is made from FSC certified wood, which makes purchasing it even more worth it.
Soon you will be starting our gardens and instead of buying potters now you can make your own from paper that you were either going to throw away or I hope recycle. Once again the 3R’s: Reduce, Recycle & Reuse! By utilizing The Paper Potter you are making this years gardening experience even more rewarding by saving money, saving trees and adding one more step of sustainability to your experience.
If you participate in a community garden talk to the management and see if they would like to purchase multiple Paper Potters for the gardeners to use. If you are a teacher this is an excellent science project for your students to learn about gardening and sustainability.

THE PAPER POTTER PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

This ingenious device enables you to turn strips of old newspaper into biodegradable plant pots for seedlings.
Once you have hardened off the young plants, transplant them in their biodegradable paper pots without damaging their tender roots.
Children love making paper pots and this innovative and simple gadget can be used to teach an invaluable lesson about sustainable living.

Paper Potter Instructions:
1. Cut dry newspapers into strips (8cm x 57cm approx.)
2. Roll strip loosely around potter and roughly fold over excess paper.
3. Press potter onto base.
4. Remove pot & fill with growing medium.
5. Plant seedling or sow seeds directly.
6. Paper pot will biodegrade when transplanted to garden.
