 You must know I love body scrubs because I write about exfoliating all of the time! I generally like to make my own but sometimes you don’t have time for a fresh beauty treatment so you must go to the next best thing! If you have to purchase a cosmetic or beauty product make sure you are choosing a responsible one. Remember whatever ingredients are in the product are going in and on your body. I know the words are difficult to sometimes understand on the back of the bottle but that should be the first clue that maybe you should rethink using that product. Organic Homemade Kitty Treats

Over the holidays I usually purchase my friends and families pets safe and organic treats for the holidays but it never really occurred to me to make them myself. I know it is a little more time consuming but with all of the other holiday backing going on why not right? I found this quick and simple cat treat recipe that any cat would love.

Supplies:
cookie sheet
½ cup organic whole wheat flour
½ cup non-fat, organic powdered milk
½ cup cooked and chopped organic chicken
1 tbs. organic vegetable oil
1 organic egg, beaten
¼ cup water
1 tbs. chopped, fresh organic catnip

1. Mix together the powdered milk, flour and catnip in a bowl.
2. Add the egg, organic chicken, vegetable oil and water and mix until dough becomes sticky.
3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
4. Grease the cookie sheet to make sure the treats don’t stick.
5. Form treats in to any shape or size you like. You can even use cookie cutters if you have ones small enough.
6. Place on cookie sheets to bake for 10 minutes.
7. Take out of oven and flip treats to cook for another 10 minutes so they cook evenly on both sides.
8. Remove treats from the oven and let cool before giving them to your kitty.

Trader Joes Lavender Salt Scrub

I really can’t believe how long it has taken me to try Trader Joe’s Lavender Salt Body Scrub but I finally have and am in love! I used to purchase the same kind of scrub from Bath and Body Works or The Body Shop before their scrubs were $30 for a 6.8ozs of scrub that isn’t as effective as it used to be! I have been looking for a scrub of this caliber for a very long time and finally have found it at Trader Joe’s. I knew good ol’Joe would never let me down at only $6.00 for a big heaping jug bring it on!!
I couldn’t wait to use it. After slopping it on my skin felt amazing. If you are not used to oil based scrubs please be advised that if you use this scrub you should either mix it with shower gel or use shower gel after your scrub so you can get the oil off. I read some other reviews and people complained about the oil but if you are an experienced scrub user as myself you know better. If you have time to sit around in your bathrobe after you use the scrub or even put lotion on right after you will be OK.
I absolutely love this scrub. I have been dying for an actual salt scrub for so long. I do make my own but I wanted a responsible back up and refuse to purchase from Bath and Body or The Body Shop anylonger. There is no reason a body scrub should cost more than $6 if it is mostly natural ingredients!
I say right on Trader Joe’s! You have made me soo happy and will continue using your Lavender Salt Scrub until your recipe changes or price goes up!

The FURminator

It’s that time of year where your fur baby is shedding to puff up for their winter coat. Personally my I have to vacuum and dust everyday to keep us from being over whelmed by fur from all 4 of our little lovies. The last time we took our pups to the local pet store they recommended The FURminator a million times to us. They even brushed out both of our babies to show us how well it worked.
I’m not going to lie that sucker literally got the hair off in no time flat and for whatever reason the pooches didn’t even put up their normal fight about being brushed. The groomer at the store even said you could use it on cats (of which we have 2) if we wanted. The little button on the top of the brush even removes the hair from the brush for you.
I am seriously in love with The FURminator. My house needs to be vacuum and dusted only 3 times a week now haha. If you haven’t tried The FURminator yet and you are being overwhelmed by your pets shedding I really do suggest it. The FURminator is a little pricey but to be honest it was completely worth it. If you prefer to take your pet to be groomed go ahead but apparently this is the very brush they are all using.

Dairy-Free Chocolate Pudding

This is a quick recipe that you can make for an after school snack or as a yummy dessert for a party. You can do so much with this simple pudding to make it your own.

Ingredients:

14 oz soft silken organic tofu
1/4 cup unsweetened organic cocoa powder
1/4 cup agave nectar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup organic raspberries (fresh)
2 tbsp chopped organic pistachios

Directions:

1. Puree all of the ingredients except the raspberries & pistachios. (You can puree a small amount of the raspberries and pistachios in with the mixture if you like.)

2. After pureeing the mixture put in serving cups or dishes to chill.

3. When ready to serve top with raspberries and pistachios.

You can use any fruit or nut you prefer. Try different variations to make the pudding your own like using almond extract or adding your favorite sweet snacks in with the pudding.

Organic Cooking Classes

I know that this particular class is in Texas but I think the idea is exceptional. I always say it is important to start you children out young when learning about the environment and their health. Why not enroll them in Organic Cooking Classes. If you have the time you can even be their teacher. I know this may not be something all children are interested in but if you do it correctly you can keep them having fun and learning all at once. Do you have classes like this in your area? If not go to local schools or community centers to see if anyone would be interested in starting a program like this. This is an excellent after school activity or even a weekend thing for children.

This class is for Children ages 6-18.
This class will meet each week for 2 hours on Wednesdays 3:30pm-5:30pm at my house in League City.
This will be a 32 week course starting Aug. 24 to Dec 14 and Jan 11- May 09

Here are the details of the class:Learn Organic culinary Alton Brown style! This class will combine the science of food with the importance of organic nutrition in a fun and exciting way. It will cover specific Organic nutrition on veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds; manners; simple 1 dish meal prep to full complete nutrition meal prep. Students will learn Meat handling and food prep safety; the art of soups, stock making and rues; how to use mother natures sweeteners; Meal planning; kitchen equipment usage and more! Each student will take home a complete notebook with handouts and all recipes at the end of the class.
All ingredients will be organic, natural or local and gluten free (my kitchen is gluten free).

The inclusive Cost of the class:
$259 per semester OR
$79 a month (8 payments)

Class is limited to 9 spaces (due to limited kitchen space)
