I have mentioned often how much I like practicing Yoga and how relaxing it always makes me feel. In my constant efforts to become better at Yoga I try new components and tools to make it more interesting and challenging for myself. For those of you who don’t know much about yoga here is a little definition for you. Yoga is a Sanskrit word which has many meanings, it is derived from the Sanskrit root “yuj”, meaning “to control”, “to yoke” or “to unite”. Translations include “joining”, “uniting”, “union”, “conjunction”, and “means”. It is also possible that the word yoga derives from “yujir samadhau,” which means “contemplation” or “absorption.” This translation fits better with the dualist Raja Yoga because it is through contemplation that discrimination between prakrti (nature) and purusha (pure consciousness) occurs.
Yoga has differenct accessories associated with it most of you know the mats and straps. Yoga blocks  however are used for supporting yourself and improve your alignment. You usually see them in either cork , foam or wood. I decided I wanted to try a block recently to help me with some more difficult poses and cork seemed like the natural choice. Cork has many benefits to it most of all that it is a sustainable material that is strictly regulated to insure its survival.

I know this is just a block for balance and support but I think its a small hand up in helping my mind, body and environment!
