Twisted Limb Paperworks

Twisted Limb Paperworks 100% Recycled Handmade Paper and Custom Invitations

I think I have mentioned before how I love writing letters and sending cards which isn’t the greenest of approaches to correspondence but I go out of my way to find the green-est stationary I can get my hands on. I do my part and send out actual stationary only when I need to express that personal touch that e-mail/e-cards cannot display.
While searching for some invitations for a family member’s upcoming baby shower I came across Twisted Limb Paperworks unique designs. Twisted Limb’s handmade paper is just as unique as the company. You should be happy to know that the paper is made here in the USA which is a quality I will never get enough of. The colors and texture are much more fun than you can find in boring old mass produced stationary. Just feel one sheet of Twisted Limb paper and you will immediately see a difference. You can see the care and love put into producing Twisted Limb products. This paper isn’t made for the sake of cutting down tree’s it is an alternative to a necessary evil that will probably plague the world for quite a few more years.

By utilizing The Paper Potter you are making this years gardening experience even more rewarding by saving money, saving trees and adding one more step of sustainability to your experience.

Recycled Paper Earrings

Recycled Paper Earrings

I know I have been featuring alot of jewelry lately but I cannot help myself. I am in the Valentine’s spirit! On a semi-serious note accessories are a part of many women’s daily lives and sometimes recycled accessories are outrageously over priced just becuase accessories are said to be  organic, reclaimed, recycled, reused or repurposed. That is no excuse to be over priced. Personally, I think if we are purchasing recycled, reclaimed or repurposed products shouldn’t they be less because 1. We are doing our part and 2. These aren’t necessarily brand new products. This isn’t to say that the charities many of these purchases donate to or that many of these accessories are handmadeisn’t worth the extra money.  I feel high prices deter people from making the responsible choice.  These beautiful paper earrings are amazing and only $12.00!! GreatRecycledGifts.comis becoming my favorite place to shop for everything!

Any other odds and ends you have round the house you have been DYING to use!

Buildings- Use your paperbags or cardboard boxes to make houses and buildings! You can even construct people and furniture for the inside of your buildings! Decorate them any way you want. Make sure when constructing you buildings out of bags you use the bottom of the bag as the roof and if you want to cut pieces out maybe use some cardboard or craft sticks to help keep it sturdy. You can also stuff the bag buildings with old magazine or paper pieces to keep them standing.

Trees – Cut holes with a hole punch out of the bottom of the board you are attaching your buildings to and stick the branches you have collected from outside through the holes. You can cover any extra space with the other items you have collected from outside or when you get to making your spooky people and ghouls you can use them as well to hide holes as well. Use glue to attach the tree to the board. Wait for it to dry first before trying to cover up any extra space.

People – For a body, bend a pipe cleaner into an inverted V. Twist a second pipe cleaner around the first to create arms. Glue on tissue-paper boots. For a dress, cut a head hole in a black tissue-paper square, then slip it on and tie it with yarn. Glue on thread for hair and a paper hat. You can decorate your people with any of the bits and pieces you have collected. Use old cloth or ribbons to make clothing or hair. If you have stickers feel free to be as creative as possible. Make a Frankenstein, tissue paper mummies, round goblins or trolls!

Bats- Bend a 1-inch length of pipe cleaner into a V, then glue it onto black tissue-paper, play-dough or clay bat for bat wings. You use dough or clay and use a cookie cutter or stencil to make bats. If you stick a thin wire or pipe cleaner on the bottom or side of the bat, wait for the dough or clay to dry and stick the bat where ever you please. Use thin wire, fishing line or even thread to attach the bat to a building or trees. Remember these are only ideas to help you construct your town. You can make your bats anyway you want!

Ghosts – If you have cotton lying around use pipe cleaner or even craft sticks as a starting point. Wrap or place cotton around the stick until it looks scary enough. You can also use a plain old cotton ball the way it is and glue it behind a building or in a house. You can use pipe cleaners and glue tissue paper to it or over it. Even make a cardboard ghost cut into any shape you prefer.

Bottle Caps – You can use old bottle caps to make baskets to hold mini pumpkins, apples or anything you want! You can make a spooky local farm stand in your ghost town or use them to help you make your bails of hay!

Labor Day Box Town Craft

Cardboard Box Town

Cardboard Box Town

As with many holiday’s people don’t really know why they have the day off but they appreciate it nonetheless. I actually had no idea what labor day was for, I’ll admit it. So I asked Wikipedia because I thought we should all know.
Labor Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September (September 6 in 2010). The first Labor Day in the United States was celebrated on September 5, 1882 in New York City.[1] It became a federal holiday in 1894, when, following the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the U.S. military and U.S. Marshals during the Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland put reconciliation with the labor movement as a top political priority. Fearing further conflict, legislation making Labor Day a national holiday was rushed through Congress unanimously and signed into law a mere six days after the end of the strike.[2] The September date was chosen as Cleveland was concerned that aligning an American labor holiday with existing international May Day celebrations would stir up negative emotions linked to the Haymarket Affair.[3] All 50 U.S. states have made Labor Day a state holiday.

Now that we know what it means here is a chance to understand it the Beagle way! Here is your Labor Day mission if you choose to accept it!
Here is what you will need:
(you can use anything lying around your house to decorate your town, you don’t have to use all of these items either)
old boxes
old containers
construction paper
old magazines
paper tubes

Directions: You can design your town any way you like with any homes, businesses or decorations you would like. The only thing that is a must is you have to make your town as green as you can! Here are some tips to start your town off. Try making recycling plants, organic market, local stores! This could spark some great creative ideas.

To make buildings:
* Wrap up boxes and other empty containers with colored paper.
* Have an adult cut out doors if wanted.
* Use tissue tubes for chimneys.
* Decorate with windows, flower boxes, etc.
To make trees:
* Use a tissue paper tube for the trunk.
* Draw a green blob on stiff paper or cardboard for the leaf canopy and cut it out.
* Tape the green canopy to the tube.
To make roofs:
* Cut out a piece of corrugated cardboard.
* First measure the length of the upper edge of the front wall and add a couple of inches for an overhang.
*Then measure the width of the side wall, again adding an inch or so.
*Fold the cardboard to create the roof peak and glue it in place atop the building.
To make fences:
*For a fence, cut out a bunch of small corrugated cardboard pickets
* You an either glue them to the bottom surface of the town or
*Poke holes in the middle of each picket
* Then string them together with dental floss or twine.

I used to have these sneakers in high school! They were my favorite! The soles of the shoes were speckled with different colors and they were canvas. If I wasn’t wearing my Converse these were it! After a while finding them became extremely difficult. I was beyond disappointed. Then when I started watching Curb Your Enthusiasm I saw Larry David in what looked like my favorite old style! I am not sure if those were the brand of  his sneakers but I am almost positive! Larry David’s now ex-wife is an environmental activist so I was hoping Simple Shoes were back in action, and so they are!!
In my sneaker search I found these comfy slip-ons. They come in a variety of colors and to top it off they are soo very environmentally friendly!

Recycled Notes

Hearts Note Cube 3.5″ X 3.5″ X 3.5″ – (700 Blank Tear-off Non-adhesive Sheets with Pen Hole), Made in USA of 100% Recycled Paper

I love to decorate my desk with many a colorful item. I try to be as mindful as possible with what I purchase to brighten up my desk. I want my desk to reflect my personality. I prefer all my paper products to be recycled. I try to search out and buy recycled, recyclable or reused clips, bands, pens etc. Sometimes though some recycled items are a bit boring to look at. This isn’t as true now as it used to be which makes it a bit more appealing for people who otherwise wouldn’t care about recycled products. I found this cute little note pad that is great for a gift for a co-worker, teacher or even someone going to their first job. This Hearts Note Cube super cute and very colorful which are two of my favorite things!

Product Description:
Bring some color into your office with this self-stick note cube full of colorful hearts. Serves as a gift for friends or teachers that will brighten up any office space. The 4-color process image is superior to similar cubes with silk-screened graphics. The design is repeated on each of the four panels of the cube. The decorative top sheet provides an attractive presentation for gifts, and tears off to reveal the blank pages of the notecube. A pre-drilled pen hole in the corner keeps a pen handy. This may be multi-colored, but it is also green: printed on FSC-certified, 100% recycled post-consumer fiber. The Hearts memo cube makes a thoughtful gift on many levels, but most of all, this useful 700-page note cube lasts a great deal longer than a box of chocolates!

Eco Friendly School Supplies from

UrthBag’s Victoria Bag!

UrthBags – Hip Handbags Made from Recycled Materials

If you are a fan of you have heard me mention a number of times my love for UrthBags Eco-Chic & Recycled Handbags! I am a huge shoe and purse gal and have always had trouble buying designer bags because I will not buy or wear leather! For a fashion forward lady such as myself I am constantly disappointed in my searches for new accessories. I don’t want to buy just any old bag even if it is animal friendly. I do have standards after all.
Being that I am an environmentally conscience shopper I prefer to buy from companies I trust and respect. After a long search I stumbled upon UrthBags am pretty sure I am in handbag heaven!!! I am obsessed!
I waited a while before using the bag because I wanted to wait for the perfect outfit and when the moment arrived it was great! I found the perfect dress that was the perfect compliment to my new Victoria UrthBag!!!!
I come from a large family not always very interested in my “hippie ways” but all of my aunts and even grandmother loved my Victoria Bag! They all asked me where I got the bag, what it was made from and where they can get one! Usually they think my handbags are over the top or silly!
It was completely worth the wait to use the bag! I love when people compliment what I am wearing or using so that I have a chance to explain where and why I purchased it! Its an excellent way to educate people who otherwise may not have ever sought out this product.
